it all starts when Nicolas Polixene, win the Best Short Film Award at the Chelsea Film Festival in NYC in October 2016 with his first short film "Papé" (the story of this shortfilm is set in the French Caribbean island, only on creole spoken). With this award, he get a 5000$ voucher to rent video equipment in the USA. The co-writer and co-director of the film and also a long time friend Sylvain Loubet comes to see him and says: "Nicolas, there is only one year left to use your rental voucher. Let's write and shoot a short film in the US in less than a year. Nicolas said to him without thinking: "Okay, let's do it, we will complete the 5000$ with all our savings".
Luckily, CAVIAR PARIS, a production company fell in love with the project. Convinced by the intensity of the subject, this production decided to complete the financing. In this film, the directors wanted to talk about misunderstanding between people. How skin
color makes mental conditioning and fear on both sides.
Nicolas is black from the French Caribbean island and Sylvain is white. They both grew up with values of tolerance and sharing. But today in the USA as in France, racism is very strong. As a storytellers, as filmmakers and as fathers, it’s our duty to talk about it.
We have to stop fighting about our differences, to be afraid of each other.
